On June 18-19, the 4th Urban Rail Transit Construction Forum and 2021 China Dream Rail Transit Conference were held in Shanghai and Zhengzhou respectively. CASCO was invited to attend both events and exchanged with owners of urban rail transit and related enterprises across China on industry hotspots and development directions, offering suggestions for the development of urban rail transit in China.

The 4th Urban Rail Transit Construction Forum

The 4th Urban Rail Transit Construction Forum was co-organized by Shanghai Shentong Metro Co., Ltd, Shanghai Construction and Development Association, Shanghai Society of Civil Engineering and Shanghai Municipal Highway Industry Association, mainly focusing on in-depth exchanges of fully automatic operation, smart urban rail, new construction of rail transit and other topics.

Hu Enhua, Technical Director of CASCO, and Ling Xiaoque, Product Development Manager of CBTC, attended the sub-forums, i.e. Digital Transformation and Technical Equipment Upgrade of Smart Urban Rail and Application and Promotion of Fully Automatic Operation System respectively, and delivered keynote speeches to showcase CASCO's technical solutions and intelligent concepts.

In his speech titled Exploration and Practice of Digital Transformation of Smart Urban Rail, Hu Enhua pointed out that rail transit, as an important participant and beneficiary of urban digital transformation, is facing great opportunities and challenges. He also introduced four typical cases of digital transformation of rail transit, namely "intelligent operation and control system", "train dispatching system", "intelligent depot" and "condition-based maintenance supported by intelligent operation and maintenance".

Ling Xiaoque delivered a keynote speech on Practice and Reflections on the Construction of UTO System. Based on CASCO's profound experience in fully automatic operation projects, he explained how to better build a UTO line from four aspects: vehicle, OCC, solution change and delivery; and introduced TRANAVI Qiji, CASCO's independently developed train autonomous circumambulation system, its application and outstanding performance, which attracted wide attention and spurred heated discussion from the participants.

2021 China Dream Rail Transit Conference 2021

China Dream Rail Transit Conference was hosted by Zhengzhou Metro, China Railway Seventh Group, Luoyang Metro and other units for in-depth discussions on the application and practice of innovative technologies in the urban rail transit, and CASCO Zhengzhou Company was invited.

Liu Dewei, senior project technical manager of CASCO, delivered a keynote speech entitled "The Practice of Coherency Coordination Management in Driverless Projects", which illustrated the role of coherency coordination management, the implementation method and the application in Zhengzhou project based on the features of driverless projects combined with CASCO's rich experience.

One of the features of fully automatic operation project is that the construction involves many people with different needs and objectives, so how to consider in general and turn chaos into order? A coherent and coordinated management approach that encompasses project management, system integration, delivery, etc. is required. In this regard, Liu Dewei mentioned, "What we want is to make the construction of driverless projects easy, and thus we provide not just products, but solutions tailored to users' needs. We work from users' perspective and solve their problems based on expertise and experience."

In December 2020, the first phase of Chengdu Line 9 officially went into operation. It is worth mentioning that CASCO, as the project coherency coordinator, took the lead in integrating the core fully automatic systems, which is the first case in the industry and laid a good foundation for CASCO to practice more coherency management in the future.

By June 2021, the number of fully automatic lines with CASCO as the coherency coordinator has expanded to eight, including two in Zhengzhou won by CASCO in 2020, i.e Zhengzhou Airport to Xuchang Municipal Railway, the first fully automatic operation line in Zhengzhou, and Zhengzhou Line 10.

The year 2021 kicks off the 14th Five-Year Plan, an important period for China's urban rail transit to accelerate development driven by innovation, digital transformation and construction of smart urban rail. CASCO will continue to explore the cutting-edge technology of urban rail transit and lead industry to build China into a country with strong urban rail transit as soon as possible.
