On June 27, the much-anticipated Xi'an Metro Line 16 Phase I officially opened to traffic, marking the arrival of the first fully automatic metro line in Northwest China. With the support of CASCO's signaling system, Xi'an, a thousand-year-old capital, has ushered in a new era of smart rail transit.
Xi’an Metro Line 16 Phase I starts from Shijingli Station in the south and ends at Qinchuangyuan Center Station in the north, with a total length of 15.1km. It links up 9 stations, including 2 for transfer with Lines 1 and 5. The line will promote the economic integration and common development of Xixian New Area and the central city, and is of great significance to enhance the image of Xi'an as a national central city.

As the first fully automatic metro line in Northwest China, Xi’an Metro Line 16 opened with the highest grade of automation (GoA4) at one time, realizing a series of functions such as automatic train wake-up, automatic departure, precise parking, automatic detection, return to depot, and automatic sleep. Various operational indicators such as punctuality, train interval, and train turnback time will also be significantly improved.

With the assistance of the most advanced system at present, and a brand-new train autonomous perception system (TAPS), it can monitor the obstacles in the train operation area in real time and from all perspectives to ensure operational safety, thus bringing passengers a full sense of security and technology.

The construction of the fully automatic operation system project of Xi’an Metro Line 16 involves the participation of many subsystems and a large number of personnel. How to effectively coordinate and plan the construction presented a serious challenge. As the consistency coordinator of the project, CASCO formulated scientific management methods covering project management, system integration, delivery, etc., and effectively guaranteed the orderly progress and high-quality delivery of the project as scheduled with efficient interdisciplinary coordination management and consulting services throughout the whole process. Therefore, CASCO has been highly appreciated and recognized by the client and was honored as an "Outstanding Contractor of Xi'an Metro Line 16 Phase I ".
CASCO deployed its Northwest Headquarters in Xi'an and served the city for years by actively participating in the construction of local rail transit. It has previously completed projects such as Xi’an Metro Line 4 and Xi'an-Huyi Railway Renovation. After completion of Xi’an Metro Line 16 Phase I, CASCO will contribute to the addition of another GoA4 metro line in Xi'an - Line 15.
