The 1st China Railway TDCS/CTC System Technical Exchange Meeting Successfully Held in Wuhan

28 Oct 2023

From October 23 to 24, the 1st China Railway TDCS/CTC System Technical Exchange Meeting was successfully held in Wuhan. The event was co-sponsored by the Communication and Signal Branch and the Automation Committee of China Railway Society (CRS), and co-organized by CASCO, Signal & Communication Research Institute of China Academy of Railway Sciences (CARS), CRSC Research & Design Institute Group Co., Ltd. (CRSCD), China Railway Wuhan Group Co., Ltd., and Shanghai Engineering Research Center of Railway Intelligent Dispatching Command System. The success of this event is of great significance to driving technical innovation of TDCS/CTC systems, improving the O&M management of TDCS/CTC systems, and promoting high-quality development of railways.

He Changshou, Director of the Communication and Signaling Department of the Track & Signaling Maintenance Division of China Railway, Dai Yongbo, Deputy General Manager of China Railway Wuhan Group Co., Ltd., He Zhaojin, Director of the Signaling Department of China Railway Wuhan Group Co., Ltd., Jin Jun, Deputy Director of the Communication and Signaling Department of the Track & Signaling Maintenance Division of China Railway, Zhou Wei, Deputy Secretary-General of the Communication and Signal Branch of CRS, Zhao Yang, Secretary-General of the Automation Committee of CRS, and leaders of the signaling departments of all railway groups, more than 120 experts in total from China Railway Test & Certification Center Limited, National Railway Quality Inspection Center, various railway design institutes, equipment development and production manufacturers, China Railway Publishing House, the editorial department of Railway Signalling & Communication etc. attended the meeting.

In his opening speech, He Changshou reviewed the development history of China's railway dispatching and command system and put forward requirements for the future development of TDCS/CTC systems. He emphasized that the representatives attending the meeting should fully exchange their experience, achievements, major problems and suggestions on the application of new technologies, improvement of equipment quality, and enhancement of maintenance and management of TDCS/CTC systems in recent years, to jointly contribute their wisdom and strength to the development of TDCS/CTC in the future, and to provide a strong guarantee for the safe and efficient operation of China's railways.

On the morning of October 23, representatives from seven units made special reports from different perspectives such as the innovative development of TDCS/CTC systems, maintenance management improvement, data security risks, project application and technology prospects, and system equipment certification.

Thematic reports

After the meeting, the guests visited the TDCS/CTC data center, dispatching hall and simulation training base of Wuhan Group, listened to the introduction of the CTC application of Wuhan Group, and made in-depth discussions and exchanges on the application of new technologies such as major station shunting route control, operation retrieval, track circuit tap defect analysis and statistical tool based on CTC system, and dispatching simulation training system provided by CASCO, as well as the results of maintenance and management practice that cover the whole life cycle of products.

On the afternoon of October 23, two experts, i.e., Zhang Wenta from the Information Center of China Railway and Zhou Zeyan from the Information System and the Information Security Evaluation Center of CARS, were invited to give special lectures on information innovation and network security.

Lectures

At the exchange meeting, many participants asked questions and interacted with the experts in a lively atmosphere, receiving fruitful rewards. Ensuring network security is the guarantee for achieving "high-quality development" of railways. In the face of the complex and severe network security situation in the international arena, the implementation of important information security projects in the railway sector is a powerful impetus for implementing new development concepts and promoting high-quality development of railways. It is of great significance to helping China’s high-speed railways better go global and promote the steady development of the "Belt and Road".

Exchange meeting

During the meeting, the paper selection results of the 1st China Railway TDCS/CTC System Technical Exchange Meeting were also announced. Since the launch of this activity in July, a total of 78 papers from 29 units were received, including users, maintenance providers, designers, R&D institutes, and universities, showing positive response. After three rounds of reviews by the expert group, 40 papers were included in the proceedings of this meeting, covering many topics such as new technologies, construction technologies and processes, and maintenance management experience. In the end, 9 papers from Taiyuan Group, Wuhan Group, Shanghai Group, CASCO and other units were recognized as "high-quality papers".

On the morning of October 24, representatives from each group reported on the operation status this year, existing problems, and suggestions for improvement of TDCS/CTC equipment in their management. The participants conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions, focusing on typical field cases, routine maintenance management, equipment operation quality, new technology application, etc.

Representatives from various groups conducted discussions and exchanges

Participants conducted thorough discussions and exchanges on the current status, operation, maintenance and future development of TDCS/CTC systems, actively contributing their opinions and suggestions. They unanimously agreed that TDCS/CTC, as the core equipment used for railway dispatching and command, is the key to guarantee train operation safety and improve transportation efficiency. With the breakthroughs and innovations in TDCS/CTC technology, intelligent railway construction, intelligent equipment, intelligent O&M and safety guarantee will be comprehensively improved in China, and a major breakthrough in intelligent railway technical innovation will be achieved. The safety and sustainable development of TDCS/CTC systems will provide strong support for the high-quality development of railways and make new contributions to building China into a country with strong transportation network!
