On December 28, the first phase of Shenzhen Metro Line 16, the third driverless metro line in Shenzhen involving CASCO, was officially opened for trial operation with the highest grade of automation GoA4. Equipped with CASCO’s smart operation control system, the line takes traffic command as the core, significantly improves the level of dispatching command and fault disposal by means of digitalization and smart analysis, realizes the optimization and upgrade of operational safety and efficiency, and becomes another benchmark project of Shenzhen Metro.
Creating a digital foundation by integrating data of multiple disciplines
The safe and efficient operation of a metro line involves many disciplines, which often interact with each other. How can we accurately and comprehensively grasp the dynamics of core disciplines and the knowledge of relevant regulations? How can we respond quickly and achieve accurate scheduling when abnormal situations occur? The application of CASCO's smart operation control system in Shenzhen Metro Line 16 has successfully solved such problems by breaking down the data barriers of various disciplines and building a unified data pool to create a digital foundation for realizing cross-discipline linkage and improving operational efficiency.

For example, the "Operation Digital Cockpit", which integrates real-time data from various units such as signaling, train, power supply, E&M, platform doors, video surveillance, fire protection, ticket sale & check and passenger flow, can help dispatchers quickly and comprehensively grasp the situation of line operation, provide them with key operational information as necessary, and enable them to plan strategies and make precise decisions.

Boosting efficiency and safety with digital power
Based on the multi-discipline data integration platform, the smart operation control system can improve the efficiency of dispatching command and operation through a series of automated and smart functions, while relieving the work pressure of the dispatcher in the fully automated driverless mode. For example, in case of malfunction, the smart operation control system can quickly initiate the emergency response process for joint control, focusing on traffic safety, and guide the dispatcher to troubleshoot according to the process specified in the "emergency response chart" to quickly resume operation, significantly reducing train delays. During normal operation, the system can perform smart functions such as automatic recovering and dispatching of trains, automatic shunting and automatic washing, thus improving the operational efficiency of stations and depots.

In terms of safety, the smart operation control system can improve operational safety by transforming static operation rules and work systems into dynamic linkage control and emergency response measures by smart, digital, information-based and highly credible technical means. For example, to protect the line against hidden dangers such as power supply overload and catenary overheating, the system can provide early warning and automatically adjust the operating dynamics to avoid overall operational failures such as catenary power loss and ensure operational safety.
With the opening of Shenzhen Metro Line 16 with high quality, CASCO has contributed to the successful delivery of 8 metro lines in Shenzhen, becoming an important force to bring the construction of Shenzhen’s rail transit network to a new level. In the future, CASCO will, as always, sincerely cooperate with Shenzhen Metro to empower the smart development of urban rail transit network with innovative technologies and to provide greater travel convenience for local people.
