Recently, CASCO has continued to reap successes in the overseas market. Following the successful bid for the Railway from the Port of Morebaya to Simandou Mining Area in Guinea, it has further secured the contract for its branch line project, committing to provide the entire project with its self-developed moving block train control system based on satellite positioning. This marks another significant breakthrough for Chinese railway technology in its "going global" journey.
The main line of the Railway starts from the Port of Morebaya and ends at the Simandou Mining Area, with a total length of 551.92 kilometers and 12 newly built stations along the line. The newly awarded branch line project starts from No. 3 and No. 4 Mine Stations, and connects northward with the main line. It is approximately 72.44 kilometers in length, and includes seven new stations. Together with the main line, they form a vital transportation artery traversing over 600 kilometers from east to west.
The blue line represents the main line, while the red line is the branch line.
The Simandou Iron Mine boasts abundant reserves and exceptional quality, standing as one of the few undeveloped iron mines globally. As a critical freight corridor connecting the mining area to the seaport, the Railway faces formidable transportation tasks, coupled with challenges such as its long route and complex operation and maintenance environment. Leveraging advanced technology, the satellite-based moving block train control system can effectively enhance transportation capacity, reduce maintenance complexity and workload, and facilitate the intelligent transformation of local railway technology and equipment.
Currently, it has begun the construction on both the main line and the branch line of the Railway. This ambitious project is poised to become a new engine driving Guinea's economic development and serves as another example of China-Africa cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, delivering tangible benefits to local communities. With the continuous expansion of its overseas market, CASCO will continue to uphold innovation as its driving force, actively embrace international cooperation, and contribute technological prowess to the global rail transit.
