On April 22, the Strategic Cooperation Signing Ceremony between CASCO Signal Co., Ltd. and Beijing Jiaotong University, together with the launch of the Collaborative Innovation Base for the National Key Laboratory, was grandly held in Shanghai. Both parties will deepen school-enterprise collaboration, establish talent cultivation system, accelerate the commercialization of innovative achievements, and better serve national strategies and socio-economic development.
In his address, Yu Zujun, President of Beijing Jiaotong University, highlighted that CASCO has extensive expertise in rail transit signaling and control, and is striving to become a globally leading specialized demonstration enterprise. He emphasized that Beijing Jiaotong University, as the birthplace of modern Chinese railway management and telecommunications education, boasts strengths in transportation science and technology, information and management disciplines. Committed to building a world-class university with distinctive features, the university aligns with CASCO in advancing the high-quality development of the rail transit sector. Looking ahead, both sides will expand industry-academia-research cooperation, enhance training for specialized, international, and interdisciplinary talents, promote advanced railway technology applications, participate in drafting national and industrial standards, and contribute to China’s transportation powerhouse strategy and technological self-reliance.
Wang Yin, Party Secretary and Chairman of CASCO, stated in his remarks that Beijing Jiaotong University is a prestigious institution in the rail transit, which has resolved numerous technical challenges and nurtured large numbers of talents. As China’s first Sino-foreign joint venture in railway, CASCO prioritizes innovation-driven growth and serves national key projects such as high-speed railway and urban rail transit. He described this partnership as both a milestone in industry-academia integration and a practical response to the national transportation strategy. Moving forward, the parties will refine the innovation chain from “enterprise-posed problems to university-provided solutions to joint implementation”, and establish value system integrating “theoretical research, engineering validation and industry chain collaborative promotion”, and strengthen joint talent cultivation, so as to translate laboratory achievements into real-world railway applications, and open up broader prospects for innovation and development.
During the ceremony, Li Weijuan, General Manager of CASCO’s Railway Product Center, and Guo Xuemeng, Director of Beijing Jiaotong University’s External Cooperation Office, signed the strategic cooperation agreement.
Wang Xiaoyong, General Manager of CASCO’s Urban Rail Product Center, and Qin Yong, Deputy Director of Beijing Jiaotong University’s National Key Laboratory for Autonomous Operation of Advanced Rail Transit, signed the cooperative agreement for the National Key Laboratory Collaborative Innovation Base (CASCO).
Prior to the ceremony, Yu Zujun and his delegation visited CASCO’s “Shanghai Engineering Research Center of Railway Intelligent Dispatching Command System,” reviewed demonstrations of signaling solutions for high-speed railway, suburban railway, and local railway, and learned about the innovations such as automatic perception protection and virtual coupling technologies. They commended CASCO’s technological prowess.
Wang Hongwei, Dean of Beijing Jiaotong University’s Institute of Science and Technology, Wang Xin, Deputy Director of the Intellectual Property Transfer Center, CASCO Vice President Xu Cheng, President Assistant Sun Junfeng, and heads of the Technology Management Department and Office also attended the event.
