Recently, CASCO’s UAV AI Inspection System has been successfully implemented at Boli Station, Mudanjiang Signal Section of China Railway Harbin Group, marking a breakthrough in the application of low-altitude inspection technology for signal and telecommunications at national railway stations. This achievement sets a pioneering example and accelerates the promotion of low-altitude technology in national railway.
To address the innovative needs of Harbin Group for real-scene full management of signal equipment, as well as the specific conditions and inspection requirements of Boli Station, CASCO tailored UAV AI Inspection System centered on its self-developed low-altitude digital inspection cloud platform. The system established an inspection network covering seven equipment inspection routes within the station and three cable protection zone inspection routes in the section. This provides a replicable solution to long-standing challenges in railway signal systems, such as widespread distribution of signal equipment, short maintenance windows, and heavy inspection tasks.
Introduction and Demonstration of UAV Inspection at Boli Station
The UAV AI Inspection System, deeply integrating AI visual recognition technology, can conduct fully automated intelligent inspections of signal boxes, switch machines, switches, tracks, and cable route protection zones. This significantly enhances inspection efficiency while reducing manual labor intensity and safety risks.
Furthermore, leveraging computer vision and machine learning algorithms, along with intelligent analysis of vast inspection data, the system can accurately identify and quickly locate equipment defects. It achieves an efficient closed-loop management for fault detection, alerting, and handling, greatly improving equipment reliability and emergency response capabilities.
UAV-Assisted Emergency Fault Handling
In the future, with the deep integration and iterative development of AI and digital twin technologies, low-altitude inspection will efficiently replace manual inspections. Supported by data-driven precise decision-making, it will enable proactive risk prevention from the source, reshaping railway maintenance systems and enhancing both safety and efficiency in national railway operation. Based on this progress, CASCO will continue to advance technological research and development, and provide robust support for the large-scale application of low-altitude inspection.
